Myrtle Beach HVAC Company: January Home Maintenance Tips

It's important that EVERYTHING in your home runs smoothly year round, not just your HVAC unit. Beach Air, your Myrtle Beach HVAC company, is here once again to provide a few home maintenance tips to make sure that your home is operating to the best of it's ability.

Stay Organized

During the winter months, we tend to spend a lot more time indoors. That statement has been particularly true this year as we have had a pretty cold winter here in Myrtle Beach! Anyway, take a few hours one day to organize your home improvement files. This includes your warranties and product manuals to check on recommended maintenance for not only your HVAC unit, but also appliances and other tools. Mark your calendar when certain items are due up…like changing your air filters!

If It's Broke, Fix It!

Household items tend to break over time. Sometimes furniture breaks, doorknobs fall off and paint chips. We suggest taking care of these small things as they happen so that they don't pile up on you. So repair that couch, fix that door and paint that wall!

Cleanliness Is Next to Godliness

Are there nooks and crannies in your house that are too high to reach, causing spider webs to form? Are your baseboards dusty and dirty? Does your carpet need a good deep cleaning? Now is the best time to knock these items off of your list. Since the kids are stuck inside of the house, they aren't constantly tracking dirt in and out of the house on an hourly basis. You can even offer them a few bucks to help with the chores!

Keep The Door Open

We recommend that you do not close off unused rooms in your house. That is, unless there is a supply and return in that particular room. Doing so can change the efficiency of your heating system, which in turn will increase your monthly electric bill. Nobody wants that…

If you encounter any heating or cooling issues during these winter months, please do not hesitate to give Beach Air of Myrtle Beach a call!
