Bad Habits That Hurt Your HVAC System

With the New Year right around the corner, we want to help you start the year off right by saving money and helping you preserve the life of your HVAC system. Many homeowners fall into bad habits that end up costing them a small fortune. We don’t want that for you! That’s why our team here at Beach Air has come up with a list of a few bad habits that can be harmful and costly!

Neglecting Routine Maintenance

While this may seem unnecessary to most, it’s recommended that you service your HVAC system every six months to ensure it’s working properly. Forgetting regular maintenance can cause your system to run longer, work hard, and decrease its lifespan.

Forgetting To Change The Air Filter

A clogged air filter will only make your HVAC system work harder. Not only will this harm your HVAC system, but it will also harm your indoor air quality. This can be a cause for concern for people with allergies. Set a reminder to change your air filter every 1-2 months.

Closing Vents In Your Home

What you might’ve thought was helping cool your home faster is actually doing more harm than good. Your HVAC system is working to cool the entire house, so when you close a vent in a room you aren’t using it forces your system to work harder.

Ignoring Warning Signs

Whether you notice an increase in your electric bill, a strange smell or sound coming from your unit, or notice it staying on for long periods of time, these are all warning signs that something could be wrong. We suggest saving yourself the time and headache of trying to DIY the repair, and instead give us a call to come check it out!

Here at Beach Air, we want you to be comfortable all year long! Whether you need us to come out for routine maintenance, fix a repair, or replace your entire unit, we’re always here to help! Don’t hesitate to reach out to us for any questions or to schedule an appointment!
