There is no denying that the Fall season is here. I’m sure you woke up in the middle of the night over the weekend to kick on the heat for the first time because temperatures dipped into the 50’s. It’s time to put the shorts away and bust out the long pants and hoodies. While there may not be any more pool parties until next summer, these autumn months bring plenty to the table. What does all of this mean for your home? Well, Beach Air of Myrtle Beach is here to provide a few tips on what you can do to prepare your HVAC system for these cooler months!
This is something that we can’t stress enough. Air conditioning filters that are left uncleaned can cause several issues within your HVAC system. If can actually prevent your system from heating or cooling your home properly and efficiently. We recommend changing these filters once a month to ensure that your system runs smoothly.
There’s no reason for your unit to work harder than it has to. Prevent drafts and prevent your electric bill from climbing by sealing your windows and doors with caulk and weather stripping. If you have leaky ductwork, you can seal it with mastic or aluminum tape as well. This Fall, keep the warm air in and the cold air out!
It’s important for your outdoor unit to be free of debris. Be sure to inspect this unit and remove any branches, twigs, leaves, pine straw or trash that may have made it’s way into your unit. This will ensure proper air flow. If you detect any damage, please call Beach Air immediately for an inspection.
If it has been a while since a Beach Air technician has visited your home, perhaps it’s time for us to stop by! We offer very affordable service agreements to anyone interested in keeping their system in tip top shape. With Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner, there’s a good chance that you will be playing host to a group of visitors or two, so make sure that the AC is one less thing that they can complain about!
