HVAC Tip: How To Keep The Cool Air In This Summer

As locals, we know that the hot Myrtle Beach weather is hard to escape this time of year. Cooling off is hard enough as it is, and can be even harder if your home is letting out cool air. As HVAC professionals, heating and cooling are what we do best! That’s why we’ve come up with a few tips to help keep the cold air in so homeowners don’t lose their cool!

Windows

The hot summer sun can heat a room in minutes when it shines through a window without any coverings. Try using blinds or curtains (or both) to cover your windows and keep the sun out!

Check Your Vents

Make sure every air vent in your home or apartment is open, even in rooms you don’t use often. Your HVAC system works to cool down the entire home, so shutting off one vent in an unused room can cause your system to work overtime – costing you more money!

Weather Stripping

Because air is constantly moving throughout your home, try adding some inexpensive weather stripping to seal off any doors or windows that could be letting the air escape outside.

Add Extra Insulation

If your basement or attic is uninsulated, this could be where the air is getting out. By adding extra insulation to your basement, attic, or the floor in between, you can keep your living space at a comfortable temperature.

Set Your HVAC Temperature

In the summertime, it’s a good idea to set your thermostat to a reasonable temperature that you’re comfortable with and leave it. If you get too warm, turn on any type of fan to keep the cool air circulating.

Overall, if these tips don’t help you stay cool this summer, we’re here to help! For any of your HVAC problems, questions, or concerns, don’t hesitate to give our team at Beach Air HVAC!
